We are all aware of the importance and benefits of taking out insurance, but equally aware that a range of factors come into play when it comes to deciding whether to renew our policy or cancel it. A change in financial circumstances or a relocation to another country outside the scope of the insurer are two possible cases for going down the route of cancellation. Although most insurers will notify you towards the end of your policy term, it’s nonetheless important for insured parties to have the end date in mind. This way, you give yourself enough time to request a cancellation and comply with the terms and conditions or opt for the automatic insurance policy renewal.
You Decide on Your Insurance Policy Renewal
At Caser, all our policies are automatically renewed, but you, as the insured party, have the right to object to the insurance policy renewal. So how does this work? As an insured party, you have the complete freedom to cancel your policy whenever you see fit, as long as you submit the request at least one month before the contractual term is due to end. So, let’s say the end date of your annual policy is 31 December; in this case, you would need to request the cancellation no later than 31 November. This one-month deadline, if you will, is crucial. Otherwise, the renewal of your policy will be automatically processed during this time. Don’t forget that cancelling your policy before its natural end date does not entitle you to any financial reimbursement equivalent to the remaining term of your policy. Instead, you will be required to settle any outstanding co-payments for any services that you have used.
It Goes Both Ways
Caser, as the insurer, also has the right not to renew your policy. However, in this case, you’ll be notified 2 months prior to the conclusion of the current insurance period stipulated in the terms and conditions of your policy. There are, however, certain agreements in place. In the case of Caser Health Insurance, for example, the insurer agrees not to terminate the contract if the insured party is hospitalised and/or undergoing certain medical treatments. Nevertheless, these agreements will not apply if the insured party has failed to meet the terms and conditions set out in the policy or has provided inaccurate information at the time of declaring the risk. More info on these agreements and exceptions can be found under the FAQ “Is it possible to object to the renewal of the contract?”.
